Beatles music to feature in video game

The Beatles’ music is set to be incorporated into a “groundbreaking” interactive video game, it was announced today.

It is the first time that Apple Corps, along with EMI Music, Harrisongs Ltd and Sony/ATV Music Publishing, have agreed to present the band’s music in such a format.

The game was conceived with input from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison.

Giles Martin, co-producer of the Beatles’ “Love” project will provide his expertise and serve as music producer for the project.

The game will be published by MTV Games and developed by Harmonix, creators of the best-selling Rock Band.

“The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music,” said McCartney. “I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out.”

Starr added: “The Beatles continue to evolve with the passing of time and how wonderful that the Beatles’ legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerised world we live in.

“Let the games commence.”

Further announcements are expected to be made about the game and its contents in due course.

“The game is in development,” Variety reported Jeff Jones, CEO, Apple Corps as saying.

“We don’t want to talk about how it will turn out a year from now. We’re in the process of creating the game.”
