'The House Bunny' far too lightweight

Cast: Anna Faris, Colin Hanks, Rumer Willis, Emma Stone, Kat Dennings

Cert: 12

Another fluffy offering the watching of which calls for expectation suspension … and one not to take your boyfriend to (he’ll not get the girly slant but he will end up more than liking the girlies who scatter themselves through the film).

Going with your girlfriends is the best option.

Faris, who makes the film worth watching, plays Playboy bunny Shelly, pushing it a tad agewise, who finds herself chucked out of the Mansion and fetching up at a college Zeta Alpha Zeta sorority house with a group of social inepts.

The girls are facing losing their ‘home’ so Shelly sets out to help save the situation.

There’s an effort to inject charm and wit into what is essentially a chick flick and aside from the odd moments it doesn’t come off since the entire film is far too lightweight – mindless, even – to be sustainable.

The only attempt at a mature message seems to be that even the social outcasts can learn things about themselves.

Star Rating: 2/5
