Kings of Leon hit out at druggie rockers

Kings of Leon have branded troubled stars like Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty "insecure", alleging they use drugs because they are desperate for fame.

The band's drummer Nathan Followill insists some groups resort to behaving in a "stupid" manner in a bid for attention - because their music isn't very good on its own.

And the star refers to Winehouse's recent home movie, posted on video-sharing website YouTube, as an example - the clip showed her behaving strangely and talking to her pet mice.

Followill says: "Any time you're in a band and you're known for anything other than music, it becomes a novelty.

"Lots of bands think they have to be out there being stupid. It's a form of insecurity because their music isn't good enough to hold people's attention. So they have to smoke crack, play with baby mice and put it on YouTube."
