Electric Picnic kicks off

The organisers of this year’s Electric Picnic are advising people attending the event to arrive early today.

Gates at the festival site in Stradbally, Co Laois opened at 9am today.

More than 30,000 people have tickets for the three-day event.

The line-up includes the Sex Pistols, Goldfrapp, Sinead O'Connor, My Bloody Valentine, Wilco and Franz Ferdinand.

The festival has been running for the last five years.
