Excellent 'Iron Man' a hard act to follow

Another - this time quite excellent - comic-book super hero played to pin-point perfection by Downey, bringing to his character a depth and flawed darkness that makes us root for him throughout.

Downey plays Tony Stark, a weapons manufacturer who lives life at the very edges, who is kidnapped, has his weapons turned against him and finds redemption by turning himself into the title’s hero, the better to fight evil and save the world.

Paltrow is his faithful assistant and the whole thing entertains and, thanks to the great F/X, thrills us with its pace, atmosphere and action.

It will be a hard act to follow as the summer’s big releases start arriving.
