Romero, who has seemed to have cornered the market in the ‘undead’ movie, the one sprinkled with lumbering zombies, goes for the Blair Witch market with this so-so horror set around a discovered film of, er, the lumbering ‘undead.’
The film purports to be that shot by a group of students making their own horror story just as an outbreak of a deadly virus strikes the neighbourhood.
It is, as you would expect from Romero, blood-soaked and sometimes horrifying, but not unlike the zombies it is also lumbering and not, alas, all that original.
It will, of course, please the director’s many fans … and leave the rest of the audience with just another zombie film.
