Farrah Fawcett is winning her battle with cancer - the actress is now "free" of the disease, according to her longtime friend Cher.

The former 'Charlie's Angels' star has been receiving groundbreaking cancer treatment, which is not used in America, in a German clinic in recent months.

Fawcett was originally declared cancer-free in February 2007, but doctors found new cancer cells just three months later.

Following the latest batch of treatment however, the 61-year-old's cancer is now dormant again - and Cher, who has received similar treatment at the German clinic to combat the Epstein-Barr virus, is ecstatic her friend is on the road to recovery.

Cher told US news show 'Access Hollywood': "She's now cancer-free. She's tough. I don't think I could have gone through what she did."
