Radiohead star worked on building site during summer

Radiohead singer Thom Yorke abandoned the trappings of superstardom to work on a friend's building site last summer, it has been revealed.

The 'Paranoid Android' singer found working as a manual labourer physically exhausting - and the experience made him grateful for his comparatively easy life as a musician.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: "It's not that f**king difficult (being in a band), you know.

"I went and worked on my friend's building site for two weeks over the summer, smashing bricks and stuff. F**king hell. That was difficult.

"But it was nice smashing stuff up."
