Saiorse Ronan gets Oscar nomination

Carlow schoolgirl Saoirse Ronan, 13, has received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her part in British-made 'Atonement'.

Cate Blanchett - 'I'm Not There, Ruby Dee - 'American Gangster', Saoirse Ronan - 'Atonement', Amy Ryan - 'Gone Baby Gone', Tilda Swinton - 'Michael Clayton'.

Julie Christie and Daniel Day-Lewis lead the British hopes for acting honours, along with Tilda Swinton, Tom Wilkinson.
