Cruise's United Artists studio strikes deal with WGA
Tom Cruise's movie studio has made a breakthrough with striking writers after agreeing a deal with the picketers to allow people to go back to work on feature films.
United Artists, owned by the actor and his longtime partner Paula Wagner, managed to negotiate an interim deal with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) which will see the studio resume production on a number of their new projects. The deal is said to be similar to that of US talkshow host David Letterman, who returned to the air earlier this week after securing backing from the WGA.
