The Audiovisual Federation, the IBEC group that represents the feature film, television and animation sectors, today welcomed the Budget from Minister for Finance Brian Cowen.

This year's Budget means that Section 481, the film investment taxation incentive, will be renewed to 2012.

"We are pleased that the Minister also announced that adjustments to the measures in Section 481 will be contained in the Finance Bill. These adjustments are vital if the feature film sector in Ireland is to regain international competitiveness, particularly vis-à-vis the UK," said Tommy McCabe, director of the Audiovisual Federation.

The Audiovisual Federation also welcomed the extra funding provided for the Irish Film Board.
