Clooney presents award to Ocean's Eleven producer

Actor George Clooney has presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to Hollywood producer Jerry Weintraub, who made Ocean’s Eleven and its sequels.

“Well, I have to be here because he has photos of me,” joked Clooney at Boston Film Festival, in Boston’s Intercontinental Hotel.

The 46-year-old actor, who starred in the Oceans series, went on: “No, listen, it is important to be here for a number of reasons.

“First of all, because he’s a dear friend, and secondly, it is a really deserving honour, and so, I’m thrilled to be here.”

The 23rd Boston Film Festival opened on Friday with John Cusack’s film, Grace is Gone. Previous festivals have honoured William H Macy, Susan Sarandon, Jeff Bridges and other actors.

Weintraub, who turns 70 on September 26, said he was happy that his good friend, Clooney, was on hand to present the award.

“I’m starting the second half of my life, so it is nice to get it now,” Weintraub said.

Films scheduled to screen this year include Rails and Ties, directed by Alison Eastwood, and starring Kevin Bacon and Marcia Gay Harden.

Good Luck Chuck star Dane Cook was expected to make an appearance today, along with Eastwood, Clint Eastwood’s daughter.

The Boston Film Festival runs until Friday
