Posh and Becks up for comedy award
It is an award they might not want to actually win – David and Victoria Beckham have been nominated for the title of Funniest Double Act in the UK.
The pair are up for the gong thanks to their bid to conquer the US.
Posh and Becks will find themselves up against comedians such as Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins from The Friday Night Project, and David Mitchell and Robert Webb from Peep Show.
TV star Russell Brand is nominated for three of the annual Loaded Laftas Comedy Awards, voted for by readers of Loaded magazine.
He is pitted against Ricky Gervais for Best Stand Up and Homer Simpson for Funniest Man.
Catherine “Am I Bovvered?” Tate and Extras star Ashley Jensen are among the nominees for Funniest Woman.
Peter Andre is up for Funniest Reality TV Person for the ITV show on life with wife Jordan.
He will be competing against Big Brother winner Brian Belo, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Star David Gest, and Tre Azam from The Apprentice.
Loaded editor Martin Daubney said: “Perhaps it’s Victoria’s growing comedy chest or her attempts to integrate into American culture by pitching at baseball matches that have had the British public laughing.
“It’s been a vintage year for comedy and the nominations in this year’s Laftas are a testament to that.
“The Laftas are voted for by the Great British public which makes them the only comedy awards worth their salt. What we have here are the funniest fellas and fillies in the land – and a few surprises, too.
“We all know Peter Andre’s a clown, but who’d have thought he’d appear on the same list as such comic genius as Ricky Gervais?”
The event, now in its fifth year, will be held in London in October.
