Fine performance from Timberlake in ‘Alpha Dog’

Justin Timberlake is surprisingly good in ‘Alpha Dog’ (Icon, €24.99).

Based on a true story, Emile Hirsch plays Johnny Truelove, a drug dealer whose gang stumbles from a double-cross into an impulsive kidnap which starts off as a lark but soon descends into the unexpected.

Timberland plays Frankie, who takes a shine to teenage kidnap victim Zack.

It’s a fine performance which engages despite the shortfalls in the script.

Also stars Bruce Willis and Sharon Stone.
