Indonesian drugs trial continues for Gordon Ramsay's brother
The younger brother of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay appeared in court in Indonesia again today as his Bali trial for drugs possession continued.
Ronnie Ramsay, 39, faces a maximum 10-year prison sentence if convicted.
When the trial opened last month at Denpasar District Court, Ramsay sat quietly as prosecutors told judges that police found 100 milligrammes of heroin in his pocket during a search outside a Bali supermarket in February.
Ramsay intended to plead guilty, arguing that the drugs were not for distribution. His attempts to kick heroin have been widely covered by British tabloid newspapers.
Under Indonesia’s tough drug laws Ramsay could face a maximum 10-year jail sentence, although penalties are generally less for possession of small quantities of drugs for personal use.
