La Vie En Rose an excellent tribute to Piaf

How to pack into a film, even one as long as this, the colourful and often troubled life of French singing legend Edith Piaf?
We still get a tingle when we hear that unique voice with its tales of love and loss, and here, for the most part, director Dahan brings us the story behind the voice, warts and all.
We have had so many recent excellent bios of singers, mostly American, that it is apt we now get one of Piaf. What certainly helps is the remarkable performance of Cotillard, simply magnificent as the tinged-with-tragedy Piaf.
Don’t miss this excellent tribute.
