The Rocket Man and husband David Furnish rented out the Gothic Cathedral of St John the Divine for a second bash celebrating his 60th year, following a party in London last week.
The 500-strong guest list included James Blunt, Emma Thompson, Donatella Versace, Rod Stewart, Billie Jean King, Sharon Osbourne, Jon Bon Jovi, Michael Caine, Richard Gere, Liv Tyler, Kid Rock, Eve, Whoopi Goldberg and newlyweds Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar.
John ordered $18,000 (€13,500) of exotic flowers and 1,000 bottles of champagne for the party, which had a black tie dress code.
The New York Post reported Scissor Sisters, Sting and Paul McCartney all performed at the event.
