At the epic Battle of Thermopylae 300 Spartans stood against the might of the Persian Empire … and that ancient gallantry has made for a film of epic, thrilling, gory proportions.

Director Snyder brings us a film that leaves the dialogue and plotline to a minimum and the sheer, sweeping action of the battle to the maximum, with Butler as the Spartan King Leonidas and Santoro as the Persian commander Xerzes.

The good news for sword-and-sandal fans is that this is THE film to suit their tastes … they can now forget the botched Troy and Colin Farrell’s awful gay Alexander.
