The Jam reform for UK tour

British band The Jam have announced plans to reunite for their first UK tour in 25 years - but without the group's former singer Paul Weller.

Bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler will embark on a series of performances under the band's original moniker in May 2007, with vocalist Russell Hastings and guitarist/keyboardist David Moore.

Buckley insists The Jam can succeed without Weller, but invited the star to perform with his bandmates if the opportunity arose.

He says: "Paul Weller has a fantastic solo career and is one of the UK's most talented songwriters. Paul is always welcome to join us for the reunions, but until then, we've got a new tour and a new album to do."

The group's 20-date UK tour will mark 30 years since the release of seminal album In The City in 1977.
