Angel-A fails to sparkle
Luc Besson, best known for the stylish Leon and Nikita, marks his return after a seven year absence with Angel-A (Optimum, €24.99).
Filmed in black and white with the stunning backdrop of Paris, this is a love story that begs you to care about Andre (Jamel Debbouze) and the strange Angela (Rie Rasmussen).
It’s more a homage to Paris than anything else, but, despite Besson’s best intentions, it fails to sparkle.
Extras include little in the way to illuminate the film, with a making of featurette, music video and a making of featurette of the latter.
3/5.
