Jack Black brings School of Rock to life
Actor Jack Black turned his School of Rock role into reality this week when he plucked two preteen musicians from obscurity and asked them to perform with his band in New Zealand.
Black â who turns a school class into a rock band in the 2003 comedy â was touring New Zealandâs South Island with his two-man band, Tenacious D, when he spotted the boys performing for money in central Christchurch on Monday.
Impressed, Black asked the young duo to open his Christchurch gig the next day, according to media reports.
The boys said they did not sleep the night before the concert and had practised their song, Bob Dylanâs All Along the Watchtower, only about 10 times before the performance.
âI was just trying not to wet myself, honestly,â drummer Max Tetley, 11, told New Zealandâs TV Three of meeting the Hollywood star.
Guitarist Alex Philpott, 10, said the experience was âso amazing,â and that he had seen School Of Rock around 45 times.
âWeâll be scoring heaps of chicks,â Christchurchâs The Press newspaper quoted the duo as saying.
