Sean 'Diddy' Combs and his girlfriend Kim Porter have named their newborn twin girls D'Lila Star and Jessie James.
Former model Porter, 36, gave birth to five-pound Jessie James and five-pound, four-ounce D'Lila Star, at 7.56am on Thursday morning in New York City's Mount Sinai hospital.
Combs said the couple decided to name the children in honour of Porter's grandmother Lila Star and the rapper's grandmother Jessie Smalls.
On his MySpace page, Combs has posted a video of him dressed in scrubs at the hospital announcing his happy news.
He says: "In honour of the two people to have incredibly impacted me and Kim's lives, we're proud to announce that we are naming the twins after our beloved grandmothers. Our daughter are called D' Lila Star and Jessie James. God bless, Diddy. God is the greatest."
The couple, who originally dated in the mid-1990s before reuniting again in 2003, also have 10-year-old son Christian together.
Porter is also mother to son Quincy, from her relationship with singer Al B Sure, while Combs has a 13-year-old son Justin, whose mother is his ex, stylist Misa Hylton-Brim.
