Oscar winner Nicolas Cage is cutting back on his busy movie schedule to help develop the independent film industry in the Bahamas.

The Leaving Las Vegas star received the Chopard Award for career achievement at the third annual Bahamas International Film Festival this weekend, and currently lives on the country's Paradise Island.
