Clooney wants to go Bollywood
Hollywood star George Clooney says he would love to act in one of the spectacular song-and-dance movies produced by Bollywood, India’s prolific Hindi film industry, a television channel reported today.
“I’d love to. There are some filmmakers whose films, when you see, you say: 'That could be an interesting story to tell,'” Clooney said in an interview with the private CNN-IBN channel.
The Oscar-winning actor said he was a fan of the Indian film industry and was impressed by the way it had expanded.
“I was watching a film the other day and the music was just amazing. It’s become such a huge industry,” Clooney said.
“There is a small market in the States as of now, but it will be fun if it catches on because it is such a positive way of looking at film-making and I really love that. I truly think it’s fun,” he said.
Labelled the sexiest man alive by People magazine this year for the second time, Clooney is a hot favourite among India’s English-speaking middle and upper classes.
“It seems like the Indian filmmakers are pushing boundaries in terms of pushing the censors. I think it’s (Bollywood) an interesting place for filmmakers to go,” Clooney said.
