You can't escape from Borat

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

Director: Larry Charles

Cast: Sacha Baron Cohen, Pamela Anderson, Ken Davitian

Cert: 16

You can’t escape from Cohen, as he pimps around the screenings of his mock-doc … and while most people will fall about laughing at his efforts the truth is that he’s not as funny as he thinks he is.

He plays a TV personality from Kazakhstan, visiting the USA in order to explain that country to his home audience … which he does by enlisting the help of real, unsuspecting, hicks and insulting them.

The ‘Stani government has taken the send-up far too seriously, but we Irish know what it’s like to be the butt of the world’s so-called humour.

OK, so you are going to laugh out loud at some of Borat’s antics, but you’re also bound to wonder why none of duped citizens didn’t twig on instantly to the offensive and ignorant guy asking all the questions.

Star Rating: 3/5
