Sting blasted by environmentalists
Crusading eco-campaigner Sting has been slammed by the same green groups he claims to support after announcing an open-air concert in a Spanish national park.
The environmentalist hopes to raise awareness of endangered landscapes as part of a Musicians In Nature programme and has scheduled to perform on July 1 in the protected grounds of Sierra de Gredos.
However, Spanish group Ecologists In Action have blasted the gig, fearing the noise will disturb wildlife and the 9,000 ticket-holders so far will litter the area.
A spokesperson fumes: "The concept of promoting natural spaces by holding big concerts has nothing to do with the spirit of a national park."
