Douglas conquers stage fright

Michael Douglas is looking for a Broadway, New York, role after spending years conquering crippling stage fright.

The Basic Instinct star reveals he always turned down stage roles because he knew he would not be able to cope with live theatre.

But, now he's conquered his fears, he's looking to make an impressive debut in the next couple of years.

He says: "It was just standing up in front of people and not really liking it. I was not an outward-going person, I was not an extrovert as a kid.

"I used to sit there in (drama) school with a waste basket offstage, throw up and then go off onstage.

"I conquered it. It took a long time."
