Long, long ago the Irish were on the rampage in the Kingdom of Cornwall … so in this atmospheric, if ultimately disappointing, costume drama we get action, romance, betrayal and some pretty nifty scenery.

Long, long ago the Irish were on the rampage in the Kingdom of Cornwall … so in this atmospheric, if ultimately disappointing, costume drama we get action, romance, betrayal and some pretty nifty scenery.

We don't, alas, get acting that convinces us we are witnessing a film of truly epic proportions. It's not bad, but it's the sort of sweeping story that calls out for at least one big-star name capable of carrying it. Franco - as Tristan - finds himself in Ireland after one of the above raids, being restored to health by the beautiful Isolde (Myles, the one performer to make a decent stab at getting it right) but opening up a tale of dirty deeds.
