Tristan and Isolde is disappointing
Long, long ago the Irish were on the rampage in the Kingdom of Cornwall … so in this atmospheric, if ultimately disappointing, costume drama we get action, romance, betrayal and some pretty nifty scenery.
We don't, alas, get acting that convinces us we are witnessing a film of truly epic proportions. It's not bad, but it's the sort of sweeping story that calls out for at least one big-star name capable of carrying it. Franco - as Tristan - finds himself in Ireland after one of the above raids, being restored to health by the beautiful Isolde (Myles, the one performer to make a decent stab at getting it right) but opening up a tale of dirty deeds.
