Munich a vital reminder, says widow

Steven Spielberg's controversial new movie Munich has been praised for raising awareness of the horrific 1972 massacre at the Munich Olympic Games, by a woman left widowed by the terrorist tragedy.

Ankie Spitzer, who lost her fencing coach husband Andre when Palestinian terrorists killed 11 athletes at the event, insists the harrowing film is a vital reminder of the outrage.

She says: "Although I've lived with the memories for 30 years, watching that ancient footage on a huge screen was difficult.

"But it honours Andre's memory and that's what matters. It's vital that people are reminded about the Olympic massacre, so it will never happen again.

"I hope Spielberg's film will convince Olympic officials to remember our murdered husbands and sons."
