King Kong is a modern-day classic

It's always difficult - even impossible - to re-make one of the screen's great classics, but Jackson, director of The Ring cycle, succeeds magnificently with this stunning re-telling of the great ape with the heart of gold.
He is helped vastly by his star, the beautiful - and ear-splittingly screaming - Watts, in the role of the lady who captures the heart and soul of KK, the role made famous way back when by Fay Wray.
The modern special effects are quite brilliantly done, the story is told with care and attention to detail, at three hours there is not a second that seems unnecessary, and an often witty screenplay and universally fine acting from everyone makes this a modern-day classic.
When KK goes on the rampage in Manhattan you'll be rooting for him, that's for sure.
