Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Director: Shane Black

Cast: Robert Downey Jr, Val Kilmer, Michelle Monaghan

Cert: 15

Whatever about his troubled past, it is good to see Downey back on screen, and in a film he looks like he enjoyed making. It is a joy which translates easily to the audience.

He plays a thief of the ODC - ordinary decent criminal - type who is rumbled by the police, finds himself involved in a film cattle call, then in LA where he meets a gay private eye (Kilmer) and an old love (Monaghan) who gets him to investigate her sister's death; suicide or otherwise.

It's a storyline played at a fast pace and with snappy dialogue and still kept under control by Black, who wrote it as well as Lethal Weapon. Lots of comic fun.

Star Rating: 4/5
