Racy Anderson anti-fur ad returns to China

A year after sending censors reaching for their cropping scissors, Pamela Anderson’s nearly naked image returns to China on phone card ads telling people not to buy fur.

Animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and China Telecom have printed 70,000 of the cards, featuring the slogan “Give fur the cold shoulder” in English against an image of the Canadian-born actress topless with her back to the camera and an arm partly hiding her right breast.

An image of falling snow appears above Chinese characters reading “cold shoulders are nothing compared to the pain they feel”, and “please don’t wear fur”.

Posters introduced last year bearing a similar image were censored three times before being getting the green light for public display in China, PETA said.
