Jazz pianist Francy Boland dies, aged 75
Jazz pianist and composer Francy Boland, who formed and starred in one of Europe’s leading all-star swing bands of the 1960s and 1970s alongside American Kenny Clarke, has died. He was 75.
Boland died from cancer in Geneva, where he had been living in semi-retirement, according to a website statement.
“He was an immense musician, without any doubt one the greatest jazzmen ever born in Europe,” the statement said.
“Thank you, Mr Boland, we owe you some great music.”
