Lil' Kim to release album just before prison date

Rapper Lil' Kim is set to release her new album Naked Truth on September 13 - just a week before she's due to start serving her prison sentence for perjury.

Lil' Kim, real name Kimberly Jones, has been ordered to surrender to authorities on September 19 to begin serving out her year-and-a-day term in a Connecticut prison.

The sentence was handed down after she was convicted for lying to a grand jury about her knowledge of a 2001 gunfight outside of a New York City radio station.

But before she checks in for her stint behind bars, the Lady Marmalade rapper will be busy finishing up her fourth album, whose first single, Shut Up, is already being played on various radio stations across America.
