Countdown begins to autumn Whiteley memorial

A memorial service will be held later this year to remember the life of Countdown presenter Richard Whiteley.

The service is planned for September, although the exact details of when and where it will be held have yet to be released. In a statement, Whiteley’s long-time partner Kathryn Apanowicz said the arrangements for his funeral would not be made public.

Ms Apanowicz appealed on behalf of the family for the funeral to “remain a private occasion” to enable those closest to him “to grieve privately”.

She said the public would be welcome to pay their respects at the service in September.
