U2 sue ex-stylist for return of mementos

U2 are set to move from the stage to the courts today in a battle to recover €5,000 worth of souvenirs from their former stylist.

The band, who played to a sell-out crowd of 80,000 people in Croke Park last night, are fighting to get back mementos, including a hat and trousers worn by Bono.

The Courts Service has listed the case of Adam Clayton, David Evans (The Edge), Paul Hewson (Bono) and Laurence Mullen (a firm trading as U2) versus Lola Cashman for 10am at the Circuit Court in Dublin.

Ms Cashman worked with the band as a stylist in the 1980s and unsuccessfully tried to sell the items at auction several years ago.

She published an unauthorised biography of U2 last year, titled Inside The Zoo, which claimed that Bono was obsessed with his weight and height.

It is not known which members of U2 will attend the case, which is due to be assigned to a court today.

Due to the intense interest in the case, the courts service has ruled that ony a limited number of people will be granted entry.

“For health and safety reasons, access to the court will be restricted when the room reaches capacity,” said a spokesman.
