Cruise lays on the charm

Tom Cruise is one hell of a smoothie.

The grinmeister has been laying it on thick with the down-to-earth parents of his new belle, Katie Holmes, in a bid to get them on his side before he meets them.

The 42-year-old twice called the Toledo, Ohio, home of Mr and Mrs Holmes and it sounds like they are warming to him.

Sources close to the family say they are secretly concerned about the 16-year age difference, whilst much has already been made of Holmes’ desire to steer clear of typical Hollywood pizzazz.

Locals are also expressing concern about Cruise’s devotion to Scientology (Holmes was raised Catholic), as well as his two divorces.

Still, the town can’t wait to welcome the Cruiser into their ranks.
