Stones hit the road again

Veteran rockers the Rolling Stones are heading out on the road again after announcing another world tour which will net them millions.

The British supergroup will kick off dates at baseball mecca Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts, on 21 August before heading off around the globe to play a mixture of club shows, arenas and stadiums.

The group staged a similar tour in 2002 to 2003 and created a range of live concepts for the different-sized venues.

The Stones are also putting the finishing touches to a new album, which means the planned tour will be the first time the group has played dates to support new material since the 1997/1998 Bridges to Babylon tour.

The group's longtime promoter Michael Cohl says, "We're announcing we'll play the world, but right now the only thing that's set is somewhere around 40 shows in North America."

The Rolling Stones were the top grossing touring act of 2003, ringing up just under $300m (€232m) from 116 shows.
