Lawyer is called to the bar for trouble

Trouble with Sex

Director: Fintan Connolly

Cast: Aidan Gillen, Renee Weldon, Eamon Morrissey, Declan Conlon, Gerard Mannix Flynn

Cert: 15

There's this wealthy Dublin lawyer - always assuming there is no other kind of lawyer but a wealthy one - who finds that her boyfriend (Conlon), a doctor, is a cheat.

In a move which doesn't quite ring true said lawyer (Weldon) fetches up with a barman (Gillen) in a relationship which produces plenty of problems. Being called to the bar means something quite different.

This Irish film could have been so much better had it been founded on a stronger screenplay and given a great deal more depth of character. Alas, it's a paper-thin plot which leaves the central characters with nothing to get their teeth into. A brief little film doing its best to consider the pitfalls of love and sex.
