Vegas reverend insists Spears was sober at wedding

The woman who married Britney Spears in Las Vegas has hit out at claims the pop singer was drunk during the 5am ceremony.

Reverend Charolette Richards has leapt to the defence of the Toxic star, who has been plagued with rumours regarding her sobriety ever since her whirlwind 55-hour marriage to school pal Jason Alexander last year.

Richards insists: "Trust me, she wasn't drunk when she got married. The fact is, she is very rich and didn't have a prenuptial agreement.

"She has a dream to be loved and cared for - it just didn't work out first time."
