Doherty to bring Babyshambles to Dublin

Troubled rock star Pete Doherty is to play a gig in Dublin with his new band Babyshambles this summer, it emerged today.

Former Libertine frontman Doherty, who has hit the headlines for his drug habit and on-off relationship with model Kate Moss, will perform in the Ambassador theatre in May.

The 25-year-old singer, who played a sell-out gig in the capital last year and is in the line-up for the Trinity College annual ball, is believed to have re-arranged his stringent bail conditions to head into a secluded studio in Wales to begin work on the band’s debut album.

Babyshambles is working on the record with The Clash’s Mick Jones and producer Bill Brice, credited for his work with The Clash, Sex Pistols and on the last Libertines album.

The self-confessed drug addict was given a curfew by a London judge while out on bail for robbery charges over an alleged incident in a hotel in February.

The singer, who has become notorious for snubbing shows due to his addiction, was kicked out of his former band the Libertines over his spiralling drug habit.

He has recently undergone a further spell of drug rehabilitation.

The musician’s ‘For Lovers’ collaboration went into the Top 10 on its release last summer.

Tickets for the Ambassador gig are 25 euro and available from Ticketmaster outlets across the country.
