Beckhams plan two-storey Wendy house

David and Victoria Beckham are planning to build a two-storey Wendy house for their three sons to play in, it emerged today.

Half of the 16ft (4.8 metre) high structure, which is partly built but on hold for planning permission, would be a toy store for Brooklyn, five, Romeo, two, and new baby Cruz.

A spokeswoman for East Hertfordshire District Council said the Wendy house, built of red brick with red roof tiles, is a massive 40ft (12.3 metres) long and 11ft (3.3 metres) wide.

Council officials wrote to the footballer and his wife last year after being told that the structure had been built, telling them they had to apply for retrospective planning permission before they continued.

Outside staircases on either side of the Wendy house lead to the second floor.

So far there have been no objections to the plans from the public, who have until April 7 to comment, the spokeswoman said.

After that a planning officer will decide whether the couple can finish the project. It needed planning permission because it is more than 4ft high.
