I, Keano, might go to show on freebie, jokes Roy

Roy Keane would consider going to see a musical based on the infamous bust-up which saw him walk out of the 2002 World Cup – but only if it came to Manchester and he received a free ticket.

The Manchester United captain, who was in Dublin to launch the Shades fund-raising launch for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, said he was unable to stay to catch the show in the city’s Olympia Theatre because he had to report back for training.

However, Keane did not rule out watching the comedy in the future despite some bitterness remaining from the argument with former Irish manger Mick McCarthy, which led to him quitting the Republic’s training camp in Saipan.

He said: “If they gave me a free ticket, maybe I might go.”
