Paul McCartney has broken his silence over critics of his wife Heather and raged at them to “let her be”.

Since the couple met six years ago, Heather Mills McCartney has been plagued by images of her as a “gold-digger, wicked stepmother and publicity seeker”, according to her sister Fiona Mills.
