Movie beauty Kate Beckinsale is reconsidering her movie career because she's reached the age her actor father was when he died and her daughter Lily is the age she was at the time.

The Underworld actress was just five years old when her father Richard, who starred in British TV classics Porridge and Rising Damp, died of a heart attack at the age of 31.

Beckinsale, who turned 31 on July 26, is consequently suffering a period of self-evaluation, and is determined to make the most of the future years her father never had.

She explains: "I'm in a funny year as I am the age my father was when he died, and my daughter is the age I was then. I think it is completely inevitable for me to have a bit of a review at this point, in the spiritual sense.

"The thing about it is that you're not normally in front of loads of people when you're going, 'Oh, what should I do about the next bit?' I may end up carrying on acting. I really don't know. I'm going to take each day as it comes and see who I turn into."
