Harvey - Latest in a long line of quitters
Brian Harvey is not the first star to quit I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Former Sex Pistol John Lydon walked out on the last series declaring: “I don’t want to turn into Des O’Connor.”
The punk icon said he was bored of jungle life and had no interest in winning.
And he branded his fellow contestants – who included Jordan, Jennie Bond and Lord Brocket – as “daft, lazy and crazy”.
Former EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook was the quitter in series two.
The recovering cocaine addict said she could not last two weeks in the jungle without a rehab session.
“I was living hour-to-hour in a world of hurt and thought, ‘I’ve got to go to an AA meeting and centre myself’,” she explained.
I’m A Celebrity is not the only reality show to suffer a star walk-out.
Paul Daniels lasted just 48 hours on Five’s The Farm before a row with rapper Vanilla Ice pushed him over the edge.
The magician packed his bags leaving wife Debbie McGee behind.
Troubled former footballer Stan Collymore quit days later, complaining: “I’ve had enough. It’s not what it says on the tin any more.”
Hell’s Kitchen also had its fair share of casualties, with celebrities unable to stand the heat of working with fiery chef Gordon Ramsay.
Coronation Street star Amanda Barrie, athlete Dwain Chambers and DJ Tommy Vance all left the show.
An emotional Barrie decided to leave after trying to whack Ramsay in the face.
“I’m totally out of control here,” she said. “I would like to go home now and watch this show in bed at home with a bottle of champagne and fish and chips.”
And it is not just celebrities who find life on a reality show too much to take.
Big Brother 3 housemates Sunita Sharma and Sandy Cumming also threw in the towel.
Sunita quit over worries the show would affect her career as a trainee barrister, while Sandy made a rooftop escape bid because he found life in the house so boring.
