Beckinsale escapes to LA for love

Kate Beckinsale is convinced her marriage will only work if she stays in Los Angeles with her husband and their child.

The British actress, aged 31, plans to live in California indefinitely with her five-year-old daughter Lily and husband Len Wiseman because she feels being close to Hollywood is imperative to the Underworld director Wiseman 's career.

Beckinsale said: "It was always going to be temporary, but then I married an American. His career wouldn't really function that well if we went to England now. It might in a few years, and I'm sure that we'll have a good life in London too. In terms of our marriage, it's better for us here."
