Nesbitt back to host Film and TV Awards
Coleraine-born actor James Nesbitt will present the Irish Film and Television Awards for the second year running, it was revealed today.
Nesbitt, who picked up the Best Actor in a TV Drama Award for Murphy’s Law last year, will entertain the dozens of people gathered from across the entire industry.
The actor, who is nominated for Wall of Silence, joins other well-known performers including Brenda Fricker for Inside I’m Dancing and Gerard McSorley for Omagh in the lengthy lists of nominees.
Some of the guests at last year’s star-filled affair included actor Stuart Townsend, Hollywood star Ralph Fiennes, filmmaker Neil Jordan, Westlife, Samantha Morton, Aidan Quinn and Anna Friel.
The awards, which are partly voted upon by members of the public, will be held at Dublin’s Burlington Hotel on October 30th.
One of the nominees for Best Irish Film is Damien O’Donnell’s newest feature Inside I’m Dancing, a delicate tale of friendship follows two disabled friends as they abandon a long-term care home to make a stab at life on the outside.
A greyhound-racing comedy Man About Dog is nominated in 10 categories and Adam & Paul, a black comedy about two Dublin heroin addicts, is nominated in eight.
