EastEnders viewing figures hit all-time low

EastEnders has slumped to the lowest ratings in the UK in its 19-year history.

The BBC soap had 6.2 million viewers for last night’s episode and was trounced by ITV rival Emmerdale.

The two shows went head to head and Emmerdale pulled in an audience of 8.1 million for its one-hour special.

EastEnders’ all-time low came on the same day executive producer Louise Berridge quit following a barrage of criticism about the show’s recent storylines.

For last night’s show it had only a 30.2% audience, compared with 41.5% for Emmerdale.
