Brando's first wife weeps 'tears of rage'

Marlon Brando's first wife Anna Kashfi wept "tears of pent-up rage" when she heard of the actor's death this month.

The Welsh-born actress, 70, and Brando ended their 19-month marriage in April 1959 after their son Christian Devi was born in 1958.

The reclusive actor Brando banned Kashfi from contacting Christian and threatened to disinherit his son if the now 46-year-old got in touch with his mother.

Kashfi fumes: "These aren't tears of grief. They're from a lifetime of pent-up rage against Brando.

"The world may be mourning the loss of a brilliant actor, but personally he was a monster. The only good thing that's come out of his passing is that Christian and I can meet again openly as mother and son and I can give him some of the love that has been missing all these years."

Christian's troubled childhood culminated when he shot dead his sister's boyfriend in 1990. He was sentenced to ten years behind bars, but was given early release in 1996.

During his court case, the acting legend banned Kashfi from attending.

Kashfi explains: "The last time I spoke with Marlon was eight years ago and he snarled, 'Leave Christian alone, don't visit him in prison or when he gets out.'"

Kashfi currently lives in a trailer park near San Diego, California and says she lost all the money she received in her divorce settlement in the custody battles with Brando, which continued until Christian was 12.

Brando was given full custody after Kashfi kidnapped their child and brought him to Mexico.
